23 JANUARY 2010

I've started work on a new large scale installation which follows on from those maquettes I posted here in October. The first batch of objects are well under way being created from canvas and polyester fibres. I think this is a piece of work that will take a considerable amount of time to complete alongside other works although I'm already getting very excited by it.

3 DECEMBER 2009

ThirdRelease

Following the completion of Blossom I've now had the time to crack on with a few works that have been 'in progress' for a couple of months now. One of those is my 'Third Release'; another totemic freestanding sculpture that I have high hopes for.

21 OCTOBER 2009: NEW INSTALLATION IDEA

Maquette

Following the creation of 'Blossom' I've been inspired to continue working with installation art alongside my painting practice. This maquette is the first of a new idea I'm working on. It's created from stitched canvas stuffed with mixed fibre filling. The base is made from air-drying clay. I'm just about to start trying to work out the colours for these pieces.

24 AUGUST 2009: MA FINE ART EXHIBITION

The majority of my work has been put on hold this month whilst I get stuck into my new piece, tentatively titled The Space Between Us, for the MA Fine Art exhibition at Cardiff School of Art & Design. Click here to view some images of the work in progress.

Spike's participation in A Moving Exhibition in London has been confirmed. Spike's work will be on show rom 8 - 15 March 2010 at the AVA Gallery and then from 13 - 20 May at the Arc Art Collective Gallery. More details will be available soon.

19 JANUARY 2010

Spike recieved his T-Shirt for the Jazzcakes 100 project today. The project will feature 100 t-shirts designed by 100 artists which are due to be exhibited in Cardiff later this year. The exhibition will possibly tour the South West so watch this space for details.

Following his succesful exhibition with the Cut-Click crew earlier this year Spike has been invited to contribute an article about his experience as an MA Fine Art student to the December issue of Cut-Click. Keep your eyes peeled for it next month as it's sure to be a juicy read.

The MA Fine Art show at Cardiff School of Art & Design opens tonight at UWICs Howard Gardens Galleries and includes my new work: 'Blossom: The Space Between Us'. Creative Acts: MA Fine Art Exhibition, Cardiff

The MA Fine Art exhibition opens at 18.00 on 11 September 2009 at the Howard Gardens Galleries. The show will run side by side with the MA Ceramics show until 18 September. Further information will be available via the Creative Acts website in due course

The Cut-Click anniversary Exhibition closed yesterday. Thank you to all those who attended. The exhibition was a great success. Issue 10 of Cut-Click magazine was dedicated to the exhibition so if you were unable to attend you can view some images of the exhibition by downloading issue 10 as a .pdf file.

The Photomarathon exhibition opened at the Old Library in Cardiff this evening. There are some fantastic photos on display. For those of you who can't make the exhibition; you can take a sneaky peek at my photographs here. Each photo is labelled with the relevant theme that we were given.
